The African Peacebuilding Project
The African Peacebuilding Project (APP) is a platform for research, outreach, and engagement on policy-oriented discussions. The project will bring together faculty, research affiliates, and students engaged in research on relevant topics at George Mason University and professionals engaged in policy regarding the continent at think tanks, US government, advocacy organizations, and African embassies.
The APP will convene roundtable discussions, lectures, and other presentations with the goal of facilitating research-based policy discussions on a broad range of policy issues relating to Africa.
APP will develop a roster of Affiliate Faculty from George Mason alumni, African researchers, policy makers, and a website that links Mason research and external policy-oriented publications.
Current Carter School students, both graduate and undergraduate, alumni, and colleagues from elsewhere at George Mason (African and African American Studies program, The Schar School of Policy and Government, Global Affairs program, the African Student Association) will be invited to attend these meetings, engage with policy analysts and officials, and develop a deeper understanding of both policy issues and the policymaking process with regards to African peacebuilding.
